A few of my family members are pretty into geneology. One of them recently traced one line of our family back to the 17th century. Apparently, my great great great great great great great great grandfather was Daniel Alexander McComas, born in 1662. He was the captain of the guard at Edinburgh Castle, Scotland. Around 1685 King James II ruled England, and as a Catholic tried to destroy Protestantism. Daniel fled Scotland with a bounty on his head and ended up on a boat which was to land near Annapolis. He appears to be the first McComas in America.
